Train travel rewards a different packing style from flying. You may have fewer security restrictions, but you still need quick access to the things you will use during the journey.
Keep a small day bag with you
Use it for your ticket, phone, charger, water, snacks, headphones and a light layer. Avoid opening your main suitcase every time you need something.
Pack luggage for movement
Stations can involve stairs, narrow platforms and short connection times. A bag you can lift comfortably is often more useful than a larger bag with extra capacity.
Separate journey items from destination items
Use one organizer for clothing you will not need until arrival, and another for items you may use en route.
Label and secure your bags
Keep valuables with you and place your main luggage where you can reasonably keep track of it.
A little organization makes boarding, transfers and arrival much smoother.
